Scenario The camp cupboard is bare, but the fridge is full of leftovers.
Solution Kendall Katwalk Chicken and Dumplings*
7 ounces leftover chicken
2 1/4 cups Bisquick
1 teaspoon dried parsley
3 teaspoons chicken bouillon
1 tablespoon dried veggie flakes
1 tablespoon dried onion flakes
1/2 teaspoon celery salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
At home Put the Bisquick and parsley in a zip-top bag. Freeze the chicken in a second bag; put the remaining ingredients in a third.
In camp Boil three cups of water, add contents of third bag, and simmer. Slice and add chicken. Make dumplings by adding 2/3 cup of water to Bisquick. Seal and squish to mix. Snip off corner of bag and squeeze dough into soup. Cover until dumplings float to top. Serves two.
