Put a bight in a mid-portion of the rope.

Twist a loop into the bight.

Insert the fold of the bight through the loop.

Tighten and neaten the knot, removing kinks and sharp twists.
It’s the simplest knot to tie, but hard to untie after it’s been loaded. That makes the overhand knot secure as a permanent knot. This knot is ideal for creating a loop in the rope with minimal footage.
