The EZ Grill delivers a no-fuss method for flame-cooked backcountry feasts. The notebook-size, relatively lightweight disposable grill kit comes with oil-dipped charcoal and a stand to keep it off the ground.

It lights easily and cooks hot for about an hour—long enough to let our tester roast chicken sausages in Colorado’s Indian Peaks Wilderness. “I packed in frozen meat, and surprised my friends with a backcountry cookout,” he says. Plus, it’s cheap, and you can recycle the materials. $5; 1 lb. 13 oz.; ezgrill.com
