Before The Trail, Cut Your Toenails

We're not saying you need a pedicure, but a toenail trim doesn't hurt on the trail.

We’re not saying you need a pedicure, but attending to your toenails before a hike isn’t a bad idea. Toenails that are too long may rub against your boots on the trail, leading to serious discomfort. They can also wear out your socks, cut into neighboring toes, and crack under downhill pressure. But don’t get carried away with those nail clippers: Nails that have been cut too short don’t provide enough support for the ends of your toes and may even become ingrown.
