Ansel Adams, arguably the most famous American photographer of the 20th century, captured the stark beauty of the U.S. interior with his stunning black and white photography. Most of the photographer’s work is not available in the public domain, but for a short time period, Adams was contracted by the government to take a series of photos in national parks and American Indian reservations. These lesser-known images are an important part of the Adams canon, and in celebration of photography month, we’re showcasing a selection of the images here.
