Some of us prefer to hike alone; some of us like to hike with friends. And then there are the people of Highlander‘s group hikes. Highlander puts together hikes that have the trappings of a race: aid stations, staff, even a finish line with people cheering you on as you cross it. But unlike a race, the point here isn’t to finish fast: The more than 200 backpackers who joined this year’s event spent up to 5 days trekking up to 103 miles through pine forest, around backcountry lakes, and up and over steep mountain passes. In this video, a few of them share their experience on the trail.
