Whales, Fishers Stay on State Endangered List
Five whale species, the yellow-billed cuckoo bird, the loggerhead sea turtle, and the fisher are on Washington's endangered list.

At a meeting in Port Angeles to discuss endangered species status, five whale species—the blue whale, fin whale, sei whale, North Pacific right whale, and sperm whale—and the fisher, a small mammal, will remain on the endangered species list. The yellow-billed cuckoo bird and the loggerhead turtle were also added. Fishers, reintroduced into Olympic National Park in 2008, have so far been a conservation success.
