Part of an 1800s-era irrigation canal near Clear Creek Canyon, the Welch Ditch, has been closed for years for safety concerns. But it will soon welcome hikers again: The path will be part of the 65-mile Peaks to Plains trail-in-progress and will reopen by 2020.
