Weather Helps Firefighters Gain Upper Hand in Some California Blazes

Fire season isn’t over yet, but favorable weather helped firefighters battle wildfires on the Central Coast and in Santa Barbara and Butte Counties this week. Cooler temperatures got the Wall Fire to 55 percent containment, and high humidity aided crews on the Whittier and Alamo Fires. Dozens of homes and other buildings across the state have been damaged or destroyed since the blazes started last weekend.
