Group: AMC Boston/Charles River Watershed Association

When: Saturday, July 29, 9:30 am to 12:30 pm

Where: Newton Historic Boathouse, Newton, MA

Cost: Free

Details: Join Boston’s AMC Young Members to remove invasive water chestnuts while canoeing on the Charles River! This event is free and materials will be provided (but make sure you have your own water bottle and sunscreen, along with boating-appropriate clothing and footwear).

Description from CRWA: Water chestnuts are a harmful, destructive organism which crowds out native species and reduces biodiversity. Volunteers (like you!) can help restore the health of the Charles River watershed. Volunteers will use canoes provided by Boating in Boston, free of charge, and hand-pull water chestnuts from the Charles River. No canoe experience is required. This event involves moderate physical activity for roughly three hours and is open to volunteers age 14 and older. Volunteers should bring clothes that they do not mind getting dirty, a water bottle, sunscreen, and a hat.

CRWA requires a waiver which will be sent via email to those who sign up below. Please arrange carpools with others on the list! We are also limited to 10 people for this event, so please remove your name if you’re no longer able to make it.
