Ticks and the diseases they transmit are on the rise across the country (tick-borne illness cases have doubled since 2004, reports the CDC), but New England is responsible for a large number of the new cases. Massachusetts had the third-highest number of tick-related cases between 2004 and 2016, and New Hampshire ranked tenth.
