Snake Bites on the Rise in South
According to Georgia Poison Control, snake bites are up close to 50 percent this year in Georgia.

It could be mild weather. It could be the modern tendency to live alongside rattlers, cottonmouths, and copperheads instead of killing them. But either way, snake bites are increasing all over the South. Just a few days ago, a 12-year-old Dawsonville girl was bitter by a timber rattlesnake while playing near a creek; she was airlifted to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and given antivenin.
