On November 28, 2016, a wildfire that started on Chimney Tops in Great Smoky Mountains National Park spread to Gatlinburg, Tennessee, killing 14 people. Though many records of the incident have since been released, several questions still remain: whether the park service set backfires in an attempt to control the fire, why it took more than an hour for the town to activate emergency sirens, how high the windspeed was, and whether two teens accused of starting the fire will face future charges.
