In 2015, New Hampshire native, Perry Cohen came out as a transgender man. Using the woods as a tool to help him navigate his transition, Perry realized how important nature was in helping him accept and love his true self. He wanted to share the power of the outdoors with others in the LGBTQ+ community. So, alongside his personal transition he had a professional transition. After years as a corporate executive, Perry quit his indoor job and returned to his roots as an outdoorsperson by founding The Venture Out Project. Venture Out is a non-profit that offers wilderness trips for members of the LGBTQ+ community, and transgender inclusion training for outdoor adventure companies, schools, camps and more. At this event, Perry will tell his personal transition story and how it led him to create Venture Out. He’ll also share stories from the trail and talk about what the future holds for Venture Out and how to get involved.
