"PCT Refugees" Flock to Oregon Coast Trail

Residents who live along the 400-mile Oregon Coast Trail have noticed an unusual sight this year: More and more thru-hikers tackling the seaside route after deep snow and dangerously high rivers convinced them to abandon the Pacific Crest Trail. The alternative trail offers much better hiking conditions, but lacks the infrastructure for long-distance hikes–leading some residents to offer hikers shuttle rides or free backyard camping.
