Pfeiffer Canyon Bridge to Reopen October 13

With a cost of $24 million, the new bridge helps repair extensive damage from mudslides earlier this year.

“We did seven years of work in about seven months,” says Caltrans spokesman Jim Shivers. He’s talking about the new Pfeiffer Canyon bridge, which replaces the old one that was damaged in a landslide in February. Highway 1 remains closed at the Mud Creek slide, about 10 miles north of the San Luis Obispo County border.
