32,600 New Acres Open Up Near Coronado Forest

The Interior Department purchased a plot of private land that will be open to hikers and hunters.

Good news: We’ll have more places to hike soon. According to Mike Quigley, Arizona director for the Wilderness Society, the 32,000 acre plot in the Santa Teresa Mountains in western Graham County boasts “some of the most pristine backcountry experiences” in the nation. And now the land will be open to hikers and hunters alike, thanks to the collaboration of state, federal, and private organizations.
