Chicago cyclists won’t have much longer to wait for the final extension of the North Branch Trail: Alderman Margaret Laurino announced an opening date of August 12 at a recent community meeting. The news wasn’t quite as good for the long-delayed Weber Spur bike path, which has been mired in negotiations with the landowner, the Union Pacific railroad, for almost two years. Still, officials said they feel “confident” about the path’s future.
