Details:
Take a deep breath in and begin your day with an intention. Allow your senses to awaken as we drive away from the noise of Manhattan and enter the calm grounds of Chuang Yen Monastery. There we’ll be guided on a walk of the grounds. The monastery is home to Great Buddha Hall where a 37 foot tall statue of Buddha (the largest in the Western Hemisphere) sits among thousands of small statues. Here we will take off our shoes and be welcomed with an introduction to Buddhism. A healthy communal lunch will follow our morning exploration.
Leaving the grounds with a pure body and mind we will head to the trails to spend the afternoon hiking to a calm lake that reflects the state of our minds. Here we’ll stop to meditate and remind ourselves our intentions for the day. Today is a day focused on not just hiking but also connecting with the nature that surrounds us. When we return to the city, the noise from the morning will be but a gentle hum reverberating in peaceful ears.
