In an unusual and popular annual event, Lookout Pass Ski and Recreation Area holds a wife-carrying contest (unmarried partners are okay, too) in which the winners get the wife’s weight in cash. Competitors must be the swiftest to sprint 100 feet in the snow to claim the title. This year’s winning couple took home $139.
