Lassen Volcanic's Main Road Still Closed
Heavy winter snowfall has kept the national park's road shuttered well into July, a near-record.

The last time the main road across Lassen Volcanic National Park stayed closed this long into the summer, it was 1952 (it opened on July 24 that year). This year, heavy winter snowfall has also kept the road shuttered well into July. Rangers say they’re working to open the route and hope they won’t break the record this summer.
