According to this essay by Crosscut columnist Knute Berger, tiny Klondike Gold Rush National Historic Park saw 69,000 visitors last year. And though it lacks the enormity and grandeur of Mount Rainier and the North Cascades, it could redefine what a national park means—and keep all parks more relevant in the future.
