People living in the Holcomb Valley area near Big Bear faced mandatory evacuations this week as a wildfire that sparked to life Monday swept in their direction. The fire, which has grown to 1,200 acres, also forced the closure of part of the Pacific Crest Trail and several campgrounds, as well as smoke advisories for the eastern San Bernadino Mountains.
