Hikers, keep a close eye on your dogs. While hiking near Luther Pass at South Lake Tahoe in late May, a 27-year-old woman tried to save her dog as it slipped off the trail, which sent her freefalling over a 30-foot cliff. Luckily, she landed on her butt, sustaining several injuries but escaping serious wounds. The California Highway Patrol sent rescuers in a helicopter, who airlifted her to safety.
