Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke said he supports the reintroduction of grizzly bears to the North Cascades, a move that would restore the apex predator to a slice of its historic habitat. The federal government has been considering plans for reintroduction since 2014. Currently, about 10 grizzlies live in the North Cascades; one plan under consideration would relocate bears from Canada or Montana to the area.
