Gear Review: Rottefella BC Magnum Rugged Nordic Touring Binding

These bindings are surprisingly sturdy, great for cruising on sturdy terrain.

Some cross-country bindings feel flimsy once you’re off a groomed track. Not the Magnums. From Crested Butte to Quebec, this model was our testers’ choice for cruising on hilly terrain. They’re mounted on wide binding plates for lightweight stability that doesn’t compromise your feel for the terrain or your ability to respond to it.

Dual guiderails underfoot give maximum boot-to-binding contact and improve control on the push-off as well as on descents. Testers were able to pop this binding on and off easily with a press of a pole tip. The Magnum must be used with an NNN-compatible boot. $99; 1 lb. 3 oz.; rottefella.no
