After several years of debate, the Department of Environmental Conservation is close to finishing a deal to build part of a new rail trail through New York’s last operating game farm, Richard E. Reynolds Game Farm near Ithaca. Some members of the sporting community opposed the plan or preferred building a trail along the pheasant farm’s perimeter, but the DEC’s plan prevailed. The deal would add the public trail across about 1,700 feet of existing abandoned rail bed on the farm.
