Fundraising Nearly Done for New Squannacook Trail

Construction on the 3.7-mile trail between Townsend and Groton could start as early as this fall.

The proposed 3.7-mile rail-to-trail project between Townsend and Groton in northern Massachusetts drew closer to reality last week when fundraisers reported they’d gathered an additional $25,000 in donations this summer. Squannacook Greenways hopes to begin building the new Squannacook Trail this fall when it hits its goal of raising $150,000.
