Fall Hiking in New Hampshire's Baldface Range

Vibrant colors and a ridge walk you'll never forget

Heading out the door? Read this article on the new Outside+ app available now on iOS devices for members! Download the app.

Tucked into a quiet corner by the Maine border, the Baldface Range escapes the crowds of the Presidential Range, yet offers notable views. Three miles of above tree line hiking offers sweeping vistas across the Wild River Valley to Mount Moriah and other peaks of the Carter Range, and Mount Washington beyond. A 13-mile trek, connecting the Baldface Circle, Meader Ridge and Basin Trails delivers the goods: high views, tumbling Charles Brook and the lingering fragrance of spruce. Prepare yourself for steep scrambles and panoramic views on South Baldface.
