East Bay Parks OKs Electric Bikes on Regional Trails

Three regional trails will now allow the electric option as part of a pilot program.

In an effort to support bike commuting and cyclists with disabilities, the East Bay Regional Park District Board of Directors approved a pilot program that allows electric bikes on three local trails. The program, which begins August 1, restricts the allowed bikes to only Class I and II (which have motors under 750 watts) and mandates a 15-mph speed limit.
