Tourism numbers are steadily growing in Indiana’s Porter County, and officials credit the popularity of both Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore and the adjacent Indiana Dunes State Park. About 108,000 people stopped by the parks’ visitor center in 2017, up from an average of 75,000 in recent years. Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore now ranks number seven in the NPS visitation list.
