Up until now, Denver’s primary association with the Winter Olympics has been its dubious distinction as the only city to withdraw as a host after winning the bid, back in 1976. But now, local leaders are exploring the possibility of bidding for the 2030 Winter Olympics. Mayor Michael Hancock and other stakeholders are considering a privately funded event that would cost about $2 billion and could possibly bring $100 to $200 million to the city.
