Teen Dies after Going over Rainbow Falls in Pisgah National Forest
The 16-year-old is the second fatality there in two weeks and the sixth waterfall death in Western North Carolina this year.

A 16-year-old girl died after being swept over 125-foot Rainbow Falls July 4 trying to save an 11-year-old family friend. She is the second person to die at the Pisgah National Forest cascade within two weeks and the sixth waterfall-related fatality in Western North Carolina this year.
