Crystal Mountain Will Remain Closed Until Ski Season

Though the Norse Peak Fire has mellowed, it's still too unpredictable to reopen Crystal.

The 50,000-acre Norse Peak Fire is now 12 percent contained, but Crystal Mountain has decided to stay closed for the remainder of its summer season. The fire, now split into two zones by the Pacific Crest Trail, isn’t expected to grow, but the resort decided to play it safe. “We were hoping to reopen for the final weekend but that’s not going to be possible,” they said.
