New York State DOT and The Nature Conservancy are piloting what they’re calling a “critter shelf”—the first of its kind—in the Black River Valley. The idea: build a walkway for wildlife within a culvert under State Route 12, south of Boonville, so animals can use it to cross under the busy road. It will be the first of its kind in New York State.
