College of the Redwoods has a message for neighbor Humboldt State University: Not so fast. Last year, Humboldt State announced it had the world’s tallest tree on a college campus, a 240-foot Sitka spruce. But this year, CR students found two redwoods and one Sitka spruce that could rival the claim. Forestry experts say the trees need more accurate measurement before the matter can be settled–though the rivalry is “all in good fun,” they say.
