Georgia’s deepest canyon is best appreciated on a fall day, when bright-red and orange foliage tops its plunging yellow walls and quartz boulders. Head out from the West Rim trailhead and take the mile-long spur to 60-foot Cherokee Falls and 90-foot Hemlock Falls, which arc off an outcrop to the boulder-choked canyon floor. Return to the West Rim Trail to ramble through rhododendron and hemlock to the edge of a 1,000-foot-tall cliff overlooking the chasm before looping back to the trailhead.
