This week, Mayor Rahm Emanuel announced the next phase of his Building on Burnham park plan will focus on transforming the Chicago River into a recreational hub, with the construction of a new riverfront trail and the addition of public green space. Also in the near future: a new climbing wall in Steelworkers’ Park, the eastward extension of the 606 Trail, and five new pedestrian/bike bridges on the South Side.
