Group: AMC
When: Saturday, September 2
Where: Mount Greylock, MA
Cost: Free
Details:
This is a 7 mile hike up the south side of Greylock on the AT. Elevation gain is a gradual 2000′ with flat and rolling sections interspersed with steeper sections. The woods are quite lovely, and the view from the summit is spectacular when mother nature cooperates. The summit features a gorgeous tower, which should be open, and a lodge with food and drink for sale (bring money if you wish to partake). Plan to spend a while savoring your accomplishment, especially if the weather is nice. Expect to see lots of cars and people enjoying the mountain. They will be so impressed by you! Hikers should be experienced and in good physical condition with recent hiking experience in varied terrain. We will hike at a pace of 1.5-2.00 mph. With breaks this hike should take 4.5-5 hours. We will be spotting cars at the top. If you can come early to help with car-spotting, please indicate that when you register.
