Bill Aims to Ban Smoking at State Beaches and Parks

A state Senate bill to ban smoking at California’s beaches and public parks was approved by a key committee last week. Advocates argue the bill would prevent pollution and wildfires and protect waterfront wildlife. If passed, the law would apply to all California State Parks: 40 miles of coast, 970 miles of lake- or riverfront land, and 4,500 miles of trail.
