Officials To Close Popular Trailheads For Holiday Weekends
Three of the most popular trailheads in the Adirondacks will be closed over Columbus Day and Canadian Thanksgiving.

Due to issues of overcrowding, three popular trailheads in the Adirondacks—Cascade, Porter, and Pitchof Mountain West—will be closed on October 5–9. State officials plan to redirect hikers to the Mt. Van Hoevenberg Sports Complex, 1.3 miles west of the current traihead.
