Knot Tying: Learn the Sledge Knot

Use this knot to tie logs together when making a raft.

Wrap the rope around the logs two times.

Bring the working end of the rope underneath the standing end.

Bring the working end of the rope underneath the standing end.

Loop the working end over the standing end.

Loop the working end over the standing end.

Wrap the working end around the standing end three times.

Wrap the working end around the standing end three times.

Feed the working end through the middle of the top two loops, over the bottom loop, then back through the hole.

Feed the working end through the middle of the top two loops, over the bottom loop, then back through the hole.

Tighten the knot. Make sure it's snug against the logs.
