Verdict

In the last five years, this is the only item that has been with me on every backpacking trip. It’s small enough (2.5 inches when closed) that it can fit comfortably in any pocket (no geeky belt pouch required), and it’s packed with all of the tools I need to fix just about anything. The spring-action scissors are way better than those found on most minitools. The Micra, plus some Seam Grip and tape, is all the repair kit I’ve ever needed. Caveat: For real kitchen work—like spreading peanut butter or slicing salami—you need a longer blade. leatherman.com.
