It’s been a cold, snowy winter and now you’re itching to get out and into a nice warm patch of sunshine. Not surprisingly, so is the wildlife. Which means that spotting elk, marmots, birds, and beasts of all kinds is best on or opposite south-facing sides of mountains. They’ll be the first areas free of snow and sprouting new spring growth, attracting critters of all stripes intent on warming up and adding pounds after a long, lean winter. Just remember to keep a respectful distance.
