With the sun near the maximum of its cycle, 2024 has been a banner year to see northern lights. In spots as far south as Kansas, lucky photographers have captured pictures of the aurora borealis’s characteristic green, purple, and pink hues.
Don’t live somewhere dark enough or far north enough to see it? Every night, Explore.org and Polar Bears International are streaming a view of the night sky from the Churchill Northern Studies Center in Churchill, Manitoba, which wildlife lovers will recognize as the site of Explore’s polar bear cams. Catch the stream below, or on Explore.org.
