To say that no one knows about the Bossi Bivouac Hut would be an overstatement, and that’s half the attraction. This basic (and free) hut sits at 11,000 feet on the Matterhorn’s Furggen Ridge. To get there you may need to wear crampons and a helmet and dodge crevasses and rockfall. Why go? To soak up European mountain culture, and to snug up close to arguably the most spectacular
mountain in the world. Create a 4-day loop by crossing from Zermatt, Switzerland, to Cervinia, Italy, and back via the vastly more popular Theodul Hut.
