Wildfire Spreads in San Bernardino National Forest

A wildfire that erupted Wednesday in California’s San Bernardino National Forest has grown to encompass more than 10,000 acres, making it the largest blaze in the state so far this year.
Dry, windy conditions have contributed to the spread of the Lake fire which as of Friday morning was only 10% contained. All hiking trails into the San Gorgonio Wilderness Area have been closed, including the section of the Pacific Crest Trail running from Whitewater Preserve to Onyx Summit. Limited evacuations are reportedly underway.
The Los Angeles Timesreports that 500 fire personnel along with 32 engines, five air tankers, and seven helicopters are currently battling the flames.
The cause of the wildfire remains under investigation.

Update 6/25/15: KTLA reported Thursday morning that the fire has continued to grow and now encompasses an estimated 24,000 acres. The fire has burned about 36 square miles of forest in the San Bernardino National Forest. Four firefighters have been injured in the fight to contain the fire, and no buildings have been damaged. The cause of the fire is still unknown.
