As you may have heard, Grizzly 2: The Predator star George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin got hitched this past weekend. And while their star-studded Italian nuptials looked lovely and all, we’re actually much more impressed with Brian and Mandy of Lander, Wyoming, who packed their big day full of enough multisporting adventure to make most weddings look downright pedestrian by comparison.
In this recap posted by videographer Kyle Duba, the couple and their friend/minister Jamie O’Donnell woke up around 5 am on August 28th, biked 14 miles to the Cirque of the Towers trailhead in Wyoming’s Wind River Range, then embarked on a 24-mile (one-way) hike to 11,884-foot Pingora Peak, where they scaled 9 pitches and 1,200 feet of the northeast face before finally (!) tying the knot on the summit.
Mandy, for her part, wore an $8 dress from a consignment store (far less than the cost of her sleeping bag, she notes) and the couple even packed in some champagne to enjoy in titanium stemware. Overall, the newlyweds were on their feet for 24 straight hours during their wedding day and the entire trip took about 45 hours.
The whole thing is adorable and well worth a watch:
Congrats to the happy couple! But it does beg the question: How is any honeymoon possibly going to top this?
