WATCH: Helicopter Rescues Hiker from Cliff

He was stranded on a sheer rock face near Washington's Snoqualmie Pass.

A helicopter crew pulled off a risky rescue on Washington’s Snoqualmie Pass last week, plucking a stranded hiker from the side of a sheer cliff.

KiroTV News reports that the hiker—who did not wish to be identified and declined to speak to the media afterward—phoned 911 when it became apparent that he could not descend safely.

The helicopter hovered next to the rock face while volunteer Miles McDonough used a special harness, known as a “strop,” to retrieve the man. Such retrieval procedure is considered highly risky. Watch the dramatic footage below:
