Yo readers! There’s not much happening here in field-editor-land that’s interesting; just deadlines and one lost hiker in the nearby Goblin Valley/Little Wild Horse region of Southern Utah’s San Rafael Swell. (More on that foreboding disappearance later.) But overall, it’s just keyboard life, and that’s dull, so instead let us harken back to those thrilling days of yester-week and the magic kingdom of Wales.

A quick note on the Isle of Britain and Wales in particular: The wilderness regions aren’t huge, but the landscape is fairytale beautiful, with ancient culture like we Americans just can’t grasp. And as our group found out, it’s also a serious mecca for hiking, mountain biking, sea kayaking and rock climbing. Hiking along ancient footpaths in the Rhinog Mountains (above) is so idyllic you keep expecting to see Frodo or unicorns. If you’re intrigued, you can find a ton of web info, but here’s a good start. The holidays are always a good time to plan adventures.
